Bigfoot Arts Education is hosting a one day workshop for dance and theatre workshop leaders delivered by Robert Hylton of Urban Classicism.

About Robert Hylton...

 

Mission Statement:

 

Produce, perform and educate through hip hop, contemporary dance, music, theatre and film.

 

Director Robert Hylton is a choreographer, performer and teacher, touring nationally and internationally since 1999 with high quality performance, education and film work.

 

Robert Hylton is credited as being a UK hip hop theatre pioneer. His journey within fusing the different styles began in 1991 with his stage debut of his first solo - A Step into Urban Classicism in 1999 earning him worldwide critical acclaim

 

About the Workshop...

 

You will learn the different styles of what is collectively known  as street dance

 

Do you know your Popping from your Krump? Your Scooby Doo from your Smurf? You will now!

 

You will learn social dances from the soul train era and hip hop party dances

 

You will explore the technique and back stories of various hip hop dances

 

The creative class will focus on musicality - music is used as a tool for exploration to enhance both musicality, set choreography and improvisational concepts.

 

You will also explore working with character, which can be built around solo or group choreography

 

Q: Is this workshop suitable for beginners or professionals?

 

A: Both!
